If this seems like something you may qualify for you can visit your states Medicaid office to find out more information about Medicaid. 5. Medicare - If the nursing home is certified for Medicare, Medicare will pay for a certain period of time in a nursing home. This place is HORRIBLE. They neglected my grandmother and caused her death. They failed to turn her on a regular basis and prevent bed sores / pressure sores. One of her sores / abscess (MRSA) was so deep when they did an incision and drainage of it the hole between her shoulder blades went all the way to her bone and was 3 fingers wide and knuckle deep. I am in health care and I have never seen anything like it. We visited her on a regular basis. We were not one of those family's that was never around to visit. We were there once a week if not more. A long time family friend was also in this facility. She died 3 days after my grandmother did. She also died of sepsis secondary to pressure / bed sores. Most of the nursing staff here doesn't speak / understand English well. We'd ask about her meds when we visited and sometimes they couldn't provide a medication list showing her meds were given. I have witnessed people roaming the halls in wheelchairs asking to be cleaned up and the nursing ignoring them or yelling at them to "be quiet". Also, they transported my grandmother to a hospital at 4 pm according to EMS records and didn't notify us until almost 9 pm. At that time they stated she "had just left to go to Baylor". This was totally untrue! She'd been in the hospital (admitted in a room) for HOURS! My grandfather was also a patient here. We gave them specific instructions to NOT take him to Mesquite Community hospital if he got ill. We told them we wanted him at Baylor Garland no matter what. He died at Mesquite Community.... where we asked them NOT to send him! The day he was transported to the hospital I had to call 5 times to find out where they had taken him. Every time I called they would tell me he was at a different hospital. We'd drive to the hospital they would say and the hospital wouldn't have him on record. This happened at 3 different hospitals. FINALLY, I found him on my own! They had NO IDEA where they had sent my grandfather. This place is a crap hole! Please, if you love your family member do not place them in this facility.
